Supporting Young Minds at Bishop Walsh School

9 Sept 2025

Mental Health Workshops

As part of Bishop Walsh School’s recent Enrichment Day in July, our Senior Youth Worker, Jess, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking workshop on managing mental health and worry.

The session brought together around 150 young people, giving them the opportunity to explore what mental health really means, how worry can affect our daily lives, and practical strategies to look after their wellbeing. Through open discussions and interactive activities, students were encouraged to reflect on their own experiences, share ideas, and practice techniques that can help build resilience.

The workshop covered a mix of definitions, strategies, and real-life practices for maintaining positive mental health — from grounding techniques and relaxation strategies to developing healthy coping mechanisms. Jess created a safe and supportive space where young people felt comfortable engaging with a topic that is often challenging but incredibly important.

We are so pleased to have partnered with Bishop Walsh School for this event and are proud of the way students embraced the session. Investing in young people’s mental health is at the heart of what we do at The Gap, and it was inspiring to see so many students leave with new tools to support their wellbeing.
